Lamont's Music Notes For March 31st

Here are Lamont's Music Notes for March 31st.

March 31st, 1972 - Deep Purple

Holy Schnikes !!!!

On this date in 1972, Deep Purple released what I consider one of the
ALL-TIME great metal albums. When you were a kid, who didn’t try to play “Smoke On The Water” on their guitar? “Highway Star”, “Maybe I’m a Leo”, “Space Truckin’ !!!! Come on !!!!! CLASSIC ! A must have album, cd, 8-track, cassette. Whatever system you were listening to music on in 1972, you had to have this freakin’ album.

Machine Head is Deep Purple’s most successful album. In America it hit  # 7 on the album charts. It freakin’ stayed on the charts for 118 weeks. The album went double platinum for Deep Purple in the U.S.
The single “Smoke On The Water” (which, btw, features one of the greatest guitar riffs of all-time) peaked at #2 in Canada, and # 4 in America.

Here’s Deep Purple from a concert in 1972, introducing the Machine Head album to an audience. Sit back and take it in, it’s the entire concert!

Forgetting To Pull Your Skimask Over Your Face Before Robbing A 7-Eleven Is Not The Brightest Idea In The World

An armed robber was caught on camera holding up a convenience store in Washington DC. Unfortunately for him, he did not remember to disguise himself until the robbery was already underway. Police in the city have released a video showing the robbery, which happened at a 7-Eleven store on March 21st. The man pointed a gun at the cashier and demanded cash. Having walked into the building, in full view of cameras, he only noticed his mask was not on once he was standing at the counter. He pulled it down, but a full view of his face had already been captured. The robber was seen fleeing the scene of the crime with a handful of money.

March 30th, 1975 - Peter Frampton

On March 30,1975 Peter Frampton released his fourth album, the self titled “Peter Frampton”.
This album reached gold status in terms of sales  by the RIAA September 13,1976. It also reached number 32 on the Billboard charts, but this album’s major significance rests in the fact that it’s the tour in support of this record that resulted in the recording of “Frampton Comes Alive”.

Now, I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again ...I’m a freakin’ sucker for any song with a TALK BOX. I remember seeing Frampton on the “Midnight Special” and saying to my brother “WTF is he playing and doing with that tube in his mouth, making his guitar sound so cool !??!!??”

Here’s Peter Frampton on the Midnight Special in 1975 performing “Show Me The Way”

Burglar Gets His Pants Pulled Down By A Fence During His Escape

A man in Arizona learned a valuable lesson about jumping spiked fences in baggy pants. Michelle Valenzuela, with the communications department of the Tucson Unified School District, said the incident happened around 10:30 a.m. Friday at Miles-Exploratory Learning Center on East Broadway Boulevard. According to a safety report, a locksmith working at the school spotted a man trying to get into a couple of rooms. When the man saw the locksmith he ran and tried to jump back over the school’s spiked fence. The suspect didn’t quite make the leap, his pants got caught and he was left hanging upside down with his underwear showing. That’s when Jesse Sensibar and Kristin Woodall were passing by. They snapped a photo and shared the story on Facebook.
