Michael Jackson Pepsi Commercial

Check this out! New footage from the filming of Michael Jackson's 1984 Pepsi commercial, which show's the singer head catching on fire has finally been released. Jackson suffered severe burns as a result of the a pyrotechnics mishap that caused his hair and scalp to catch on fire. The video shows Jackson dancing, not realizing what had happened, with the flames on his head. Security on the set tackle him to extinguish the fire, but when the singer emerges from the crowd of people trying to help him, the top of his head is bald. The accident happened in 1984, at the height of Jackson's fame, and a year after the release of 'Thriller'. Jackson required several surgeries to treat the injury and it's widely believed to be what set off a lifelong battle with painkiller addiction for Jackson. He was prescribed several medications to help him the tolerate multiple surgeries required, to fix the second and third-degree burns on his scalp, but the incident kicked off his addiction to painkillers and plastic surgery. In his autobiography, 'Moonwalk', Michael described the cause of the accident as "stupidity, pure and simple." "Bombs went off on either side of my head, and the sparks set my hair on fire. I was dancing down this ramp and turning around, spinning, not knowing I was on fire. Suddenly I felt my hands reflexively go to my head in an attempt to smother the flames." Pepsi gave Jackson $1.5 million to compensate him for the accident, which he donated to a burn center, named after him. See video of the accident during fiming of the 1984 Pepsi commercial below:
